Held the jubilee 20th manifestation “Oscar for quality” 2014

Within the Forum of quality and business excellence 2014 (held from 17th to 19th November 2014 in Belgrade), the Foundation for Quality Culture and Excellence (FQCE) in cooperation with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and supported by the Ministry of Economy organized the jubilee 20th consecutive award of National Award for Business Excellence – “Oscar for quality” 2014.

On the occasion of 20 years anniversary of Oscar for quality, Ms Jelena Popovic, Assistant  Minister of Economy, opened at Serbian Chamber of Commerce the traditional event which is for more than two decades, organized by the Foundation for Quality Culture and Excellence and the magazine "Quality and Excellence" entitled Quality and Business excellence FORUM.

Ms. Popovic, emphasized the importance of this manifestation for sharing experiences and information on quality and security of products improvements.

In her speech she also stressed that the Ministry of Economy encourages competitiveness with a number of measures, among which  creation of normative and institutional basis for harmonization of Serbian technical regulations with EU legislation and practice, the World trade Organization rules and improvement of functioning of quality infrastructure institutions (in standardization, metrology, accreditation and conformity assessment) creates preconditions for the smooth placement of Serbian products on the EU single market, or raising level of competitiveness of Serbian economy.

Ministry of Economy highly appreciates the efforts of the Fund for quality culture of and excellence, which together with the magazine “Quality and excellence” for the past two decades worked on promotion of excellence in business through organization of the competition for the prestigious  “Oscar for quality” award.

Today, in a time of global competition, it is especially important that economic operators base their activities on business excellence, as a management concept, in order to achieve the following objectives:

  • excellence in quality of products and services,
  • recognition on the market,
  • reducing costs,
  • improvement of  relationships with customers, suppliers, business partners and
  • contribution to the community.

Ms. Popovic also gave a short overview on current activities of the Sector for Quality Infrastructure and Product Safety on the Market of the Ministry of Economy, which is, based on the decision of the Government, in charge for coordination of activities in the negotiation process with the EU in the area of free movement of goods - Chapter 1, as a very important activity for preparation of economic operators for EU and global market.

The first phase of negotiations with the European Commission was implemented during this year - sessions of explanatory and bilateral screening were held. EU Commission representatives, who participated to these meetings, assessed very positively the achieved results and Serbian plans for harmonization with the EU in this area.

Complete European regulation in  first negotiating chapter contains over 2500 legal acts, and will be, according to the National Program for the Adoption of the Acquis, implemented in Serbian legal system by the end of the year 2018.

In Serbian Chamber of commerce, within this manifestation, on November 19, also were awarded few prizes for outstanding results achieved in improving and developing the quality and business excellence - “Oscar for Quality ".

These awards were presented by Ms. Jelena Popovic, assistant Minister of Economy in charge of quality infrastructure. On this occasion, she stressed that companies that participated in the competition for this valuable award, through reviewing of their businesses in accordance with Award criteria, receive a very good tool for evaluation of their key performances in regards to the market demands, customers expectations, partners, employees and society in a whole, which helps them to clearly identify opportunities for future development.

 She expressed the expectation that the national award for business excellence will present a strong motivating factor to all economic operators in their intention to improve business procedures, what will, on a large scale - on the level of Serbian economy, contribute to the development of the overall climate for quality improvement.

  4. JP ROUTES OF SERBIA, Belgrade, in the field: Partnership and Resources
  5. ECONOMIC AND TRADE SCHOOL, Bečej, for the field: human resources

III - ORGANISATION OUTSIDE SERBIA:
