Memorandum of Understanding in the field of quality infrastructure signed

At the eighth meeting of the Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation, held into Belgrade on 11 and 12 March 2015, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Serbia and the Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing within the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

The Memorandum was signed by Minister Zeljko Sertić on behalf of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Serbia, and on behalf of the Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing Mr. Viktor Pokorni, Director.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economy and the Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing creates preconditions for the establishment of more intensive economic cooperation in the field of quality infrastructure, as a part of an overall economic cooperation between Republic of Serbia and Czech Republic.

Continuation of earlier established cooperation in the field of standardization, accreditation, metrology and conformity assessment is essential   for strengthening of institutional cooperation between the signatories of the Memorandum in order to increase capacity of key Serbian quality infrastructure institutions (Serbian Institute for Standardization, Accreditation Body of Serbia, Directorate of Measures and Precious Metals) .

These activities will contribute indirectly to strengthening competitiveness of Serbian industry and preparation of Serbia for EU integration namely for, preparations for the successful conduction and conclusion of negotiations in the first negotiation chapter - free movement of goods.

Intensive cooperation also aims to facilitation the access of Serbian industrial products single European market.

Memorandum confirms the intention of both parties to promote closer cooperation between business entities based on respect of European and international principles, rules and standards, guided by economic interests of both countries.

Closer cooperation in the field of standardization, accreditation, metrology and conformity assessment will be perform through the exchange of experience, information on technical regulations, the work of conformity assessment bodies, exchange of experts, opinions, and publications, preparation of joint projects, organizing training and study visits in the common interest .

Intensive cooperation also aims to facilitation  the  access of Serbian industrial products single European market.
